The semi-detached house at the Sheinton end of the estate road was always for the chauffeur on the estate, When Mr Carder bought the park the house was lived in by a Mr James, the house had been purchased in the sale of 1928 by Colonel Crichton Browne, Mr James was his chauffeur, he was reputed to have been the first person to drive a car, specifically a Rolls Royce over the newly built Buildwas Bridge.

Bob and Goff
Goff died on the 23rd of February 2008, aged 77
2013 Bob moved to a nursing home in Much Wenlock
During the period where the three brothers lived in the house Bob and Goff had a falling out, one brother lived upstairs the other down neither speaking to the other.
Harvey was the go between looking after the house providing meals and doing the shopping. Bob and Goff were lorry drivers for the quarries in Wenlock but Harvey did not work, he came beating on the estate, but as far as full time work that was not Harvey’s way. He had been called up to do National Service, but had not seen action.
When the taxi driver brought him home from Shrewsbury, he said that he had done his bit for King and Country. Now King and Country were going to keep him. After that Harvey never did a full day’s work in his life. He did on occasion cut hedges for local farmers, but this he did early in the mornings before anyone got about. We did go down the road one day and saw him dive behind the hedge when he heard us coming and he decided to hide. When we went past I slowed down and shouted through the open window, “morning Harv”.
When Harvey died, the two brothers lived in silence till Goff died.
Bob remained in the house till ill health forced him to move to a nursing home in Much Wenlock.
The house remained empty for over a year till the estate took it back in 2015 for renovation.
